Media ServicesMedia Center Catalog | River Reader Program | Battle of the Books | Reference Resources The District Media Center collection and staff serve as a resource center for our students and their families. One of the many support services provided by the Media Center is the Subject Kits. These multi-media, fully integrated, kits promote thematic instruction and are available for use by our home schooled students. The Media Center tracks, catalogs, and orders materials for the central media center used by all Yukon-Koyukuk School District sites and the Raven Correspondence School. Check out the Media Center Catalog River Reader Program Since fall 2002, this program has been available to all Raven Correspondence School students. Our students earn books and magazine subscriptions for reading.
Battle of the Books The 2003-04 Books have been announced. Please let the librarian know if you would like to join a grade level team. Go to Alaska Association of School Librarians (AkASL) for more information. Teams of Raven Correspondence School students will be formed and will compete.
Reference Resources This is an online encyclopedia that uses the benefits of the computer to be a useful tool for you. If you have problems logging on, please call or email the media center. We can provide passwords and with your IP address give you an automatic log in. This Web site is brought to you from the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., the largest library in the world and the nation's library. This site can answer questions about American life through the ages. SLED is a public service providing easy and equitable access to electronic information. SLED was developed by the Alaska State Library and the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library, University of Alaska Fairbanks. These are paid subscriptions to databases of magazines, journals, and other published information. Feel free to email me reference questions. Our mission in the library is to provide the students of YKSD with the materials and information they need to further their learning.
